Why Home Visits Suit Older People
For a lot of older people, the hardest part of any treatment is getting there. Driving, parking, stairs, waiting rooms and a tiring journey home can outweigh the benefit. A mobile reflexologist takes all of that away. I come to the house, set up in whichever room is most comfortable, and the only journey is from the kitchen to the armchair.
Reflexology itself is gentle. I work on the feet only, so there's no need to undress or lie on a treatment couch. Many people have their session sitting back in their own chair with their feet on a stool.
Booking for a Parent
Often it's a son or daughter who gets in touch first. That's absolutely fine. Tell me a little about your mum or dad when you book, and I'll talk things through with them too, so they know what to expect and feel comfortable before I arrive. You're very welcome to be there for the visit, or you can leave them to enjoy the peace and quiet.
A lot of families book a couples session and join in, or buy a gift voucher for a birthday or Mothering Sunday.
Safety First
Every first session starts with a proper health consultation. I ask about medical conditions, medication and anything recent such as surgery or a fall. Reflexology is a complementary therapy. It sits alongside medical care and never replaces it. For a few conditions, such as a recent blood clot, I won't treat until a GP has given the all-clear. The pressure is always adjusted to suit the person. For older or more fragile skin I keep it light. I'm fully insured and DBS checked.
What People Often Notice
Clients tell me they feel calmer and more relaxed afterwards, and many say they sleep better that night. I'm always careful not to promise more than that. What I can say is that an unhurried hour of gentle, attentive care at home is something a lot of older people really look forward to.
Prices
The same as for everyone: £30 for a 30-minute Express session, which is often the best place to start, £45 for a full hour, and courses of three (£120) or five (£190) for regular visits. Full details are on the services page.
